For area business, the Super Bowl means an opportunity for additional sales dollars.

In Lincoln’s IGA deli department, Joy Blair’s staff is getting ready for the big game by making sure they have enough supplies on hand to handle last-minute requests.

“A popular item that we get lots of requests for are the hot wings platters,” Blair said. “The meat trays and sub sandwiches also are big sellers.”

She has noticed a trend in people creating their own trays if planning a big party for the game.

“They’ll come in and pick up deli meat and cheese and then grab a three-pound tub of potato salad to go with the sub sandwiches and of course they will also pick up chips,” said Blair.

Logan Lanes has also been planning its annual Super Bowl bash. The bowling alley will host its 12th annual Super Bowl party from 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Business owner Shawn Taylor said several door prizes will be given away during the party.
