Heading into Packer territory to find fans and cheese
MENOMONIE, Wis. -- It's been said that Green Bay Packer fans wear their hearts on their sleeves. Clad in green, plush "G" slippers, you could say Jeff Burton wears his heart on his feet... and on the seat of his pants... and on his house... where you can find a huge "G" painted on his siding.
"I'm a die-hard Packer fan," he said, matter-of-factly. Burton's was the first stop on our pilgrimage to the hallowed grounds of Lambeau Field for the Vikings game. His living room didn't have much space on the walls; just about every inch was covered with a photo, newspaper clipping, or ticket stub. He was proud to show us his proof that he is one of thousands of team owners.
As far as the big Monday Night tilt with the Vikings? "l never cared for em'," he said about the team from across the border. "Green bay does need to lose, you know, they need to have a loss game to get their head out of the clouds," he concluded.
