SAN DIEGO - The locals say it's been a long time since another team's fans took over Qualcomm Stadium the way Packers Nation did Sunday.
You'd probably have to go back eight years or so to when Oakland Raiders fans typically took up half of Qualcomm when the Silver and Black made its annual trip to San Diego, but that had more to do with proximity and the fact Chargers season-ticket holders would rather make a buck off Raiders fans than spend the afternoon with them. So they'd sell them their tickets and watch from home instead.
It made for a more comfortable experience, and presumably a safer one too.
The Chargers finally got wise to all that and began selling Raiders tickets in two-game packages - to see the Raiders play you'd have to fork over top dollar for an additional game.
The plan worked, effectively pricing out a majority of Raiders fans, and the Chargers had their stadium back.
