REHOBOTH BEACH -- Some women love to dress for summer -- it's understandable given our close proximity to the beach -- but breaking out the fur and fluffy scarves and hats can be fun, too.

Whether it's for a road trip out of state to hit the slopes or just an offseason walk on the beach, women across Delmarva are bundling up in style.

Winter wear doesn't have to be frumpy; in fact, the right pieces can be flattering.

According to Derek Shockro, co-owner of Liquid Board Shop in Rehoboth Beach, layering is key. All women should start with a great fitted top, he said.

"If you want to get that cute look and still show some curves, find a nice, fitted, first-layer garment," he said. "That way, it keeps you dry and doesn't freeze you to the bone. That will help you keep that cute look."

Another great must-have for winter is a pair of boots, said Karen Kern, manager of Quiet Storm in Rehoboth Beach. Kern said Uggs are always popular because of their comfort, warmth and the variety of styles available.

The hip hop tradition brought in this fashion where in popular hip hop artists like Eminem, Snoop Dog and 50 cent were seen sporting these hats along with other typical accessories like bling and loose baggy jeans and jerseys. This trend spread like a wild fire amongst teenagers who started wearing these hats as a part of their daily wear. It would even become an individual’s identity to a certain extent due the frequent use of these hats. They come in various designs and patterns that suit your mood. These patterns voice your style in many ways. It enhances one’s personality and also is a good headgear for people looking for a makeover from a different style altogether. The brim can be folded and worn. Also on the side of the hat can be embroidered your name or any word that describes you or your likes. Most branded hats have the brand logos associated with the hats which also looks trendy. It can be easily worn under a helmet especially by cyclists and skateboarders during winter. Women look exceptionally good with all kinds of beanie hats no matter what color or design. It is because of the way their long hair falls on either side of the hat that gives it a sassy look. Also it’s a great headgear to help you protect your hair from the blowing wind especially in moving vehicles. It helps keeping the hair in place for girls. Since it is rather elastic or may be even made with lycra in the modern hats, it fits all kinds of shapes and sizes of heads without loosening in the event of frequent usage. Thus it doesn’t fly off or move in any direction and ruin the hairstyle. Some of these beanie hats may also come incorporated with headphones with a wire that is connected to your player. So it does not seem very obvious that you are listening to music especially in those places where using earphones and headphones are not feasible.
